After a brilliant career spent mostly with the New York and San Francisco Giants, Willie Mays returned to New York in 1972 to finish out his playing career with the New York Mets, something he did following the 1973 season. Willie then took up a position as a part-time coach with the Mets, and this is the jersey that he wore at Shea in 1978, the year before he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
