A son of the great racehorse Man O' War, War Admiral was the epitome of great things in small packages. In 1937, owner Samuel J. Riddle entered War Admiral in the Kentucky Derby. He took the lead and held it to the end, winning by 1-3/4 lengths. War Admiral went on to capture the 1937 Triple Crown, winning both the Preakness and Belmont Stakes. In 1938 he raced Seabiscuit, an underdog rival, in the Pimlico Special. War Admiral was heavily favored but Seabiscuit won the race by four lengths. Made from durable, engineering-grade cellulose acetate that handpainted, War Admiral is a dark brown thoroughbred.Measures 12" x 3" x 9".Made in USA.
